Inner Vault app icon: a warm metallic vault door within a dark stone frame

Inner Vault

Some things are yours alone.

A private place for personal photographs, notes, recordings, scans, and documents—captured privately, kept under your control, and revealed only by choice.

Private does not mean suspicious. It means yours.

Our phones hold the most personal parts of our lives, yet ordinary photo libraries and file browsers are designed to surface, suggest, synchronize, and share. Inner Vault is being designed for the material that deserves a boundary of its own.

Capture it privately. Keep it encrypted. Reveal it only by choice.

A boundary from the first moment

Private capture—not a cleanup job afterward.

Inner Vault is being designed with its own camera and recorders so new material can enter the vault without first being added to Photos. Imported files will be clearly identified as copies, because the original may still remain in Photos, Files, a message, or another app.

CapturePhotographs, video, audio, and scans created inside the private boundary.
KeepNotes, documents, filenames, previews, and sensitive metadata protected together.
RevealControlled viewing designed to reduce accidental reproduction and disclosure.
RecoverAn owner-held recovery path, tested before the app accepts real private material.
Owned by the person using it

Your data will always be yours—and nobody else’s.

Inner Vault is planned as a local-first app with no account, advertising, behavioural analytics, or third-party access to vault contents. Family Sharing will share only the App Store purchase—not anyone’s vault, keys, recovery material, backups, or metadata.

Technical craft

Evidence before confidence.

Inner Vault is not being built by placing a lock screen over ordinary storage. Its architecture begins with independent item keys, a device-bound factor, an owner-held passphrase and recovery secret, encrypted metadata, fail-closed lifecycle rules, and physical-device testing. Strong claims must wait for demonstrated evidence and independent review.

Protection continues after unlock

Encryption at rest is only the beginning.

Inner Vault is being designed as a controlled-viewing environment: sensitive pixels concealed during backgrounding, capture and external-display states treated as security events, and copying or sharing kept behind deliberate owner-authorized paths.

No app can stop another physical camera pointed at the screen, guarantee safety on a compromised operating system, or solve coercion. Inner Vault will say where its protection ends.

Privacy must remain usable

A secure path must still be a path someone can finish.

Accessibility is a release requirement from the foundation onward. Common tasks are being designed for VoiceOver, Voice Control, Switch Control, Larger Text, Reduce Motion, strong contrast, and alternatives to precise gestures, colour, sound, or motion.

A truthful pre-release boundary

Inner Vault currently has a native SwiftUI foundation and synthetic security feasibility work. It does not yet store real private material. Encryption, capture, recovery, and controlled-viewing claims on this page describe the approved product direction and release requirements—not completed protection.

Clarity belongs beside privacy.
